Freeride bike in the making. 1 Year, 8 Months ago Karma: 11
I have been looking intently for a freeride bike, more geared towards a slopestyle "styled" bike. Relatively light, single crown but with a good spec list.

I will be looking within the next few months, my price range is around 1500.00 ish.
At first i was thinking a 2005 Kona Stinky used, but i would be compelled to change way too many parts on the thing, mostly the fork.

I need a bike that i will not have to do this right away, im a stickler for detail, so the bike cannot be a POS.

This is what i have:
Looking for a somewhat spec'd stinky
Rocky mountain switch, probably around 2003
Buy a new bike, and work on it (Howler, something like that)
Brodie Dissendent or something like it

Fork will be something like a fox 36, totem, domain...or even maybe a pike...i will see.

Any suggestions?

Big Hit is flop...guy has not emailed me back in over a week.

But, i got a rather interesting email from a feller in Port Perry with a 2005 Trek Session 7...with so upgrades.

This will probably be the one, I may take a look at it on Monday or Tuesday depending on his availablity.

Whatever you do, just make sure you choose a bike with a true four bar design as appose to the fo bar that crappy kona and other companies use. Fo bars def don't ride as nice as a good ole real four bar, like the specialized bikes(which actually owns the patent) or Devinci's, But they work so much better. Or you could go with a santa cruz, which is a totally different design that works just as well! You should look into the Devinci Hectik or frantik, Santa cruz bullit, VP-free(maybe) or nomad and Specialized BigHit like I see you already have. That's personally what i would be looking into.

^ I bought a mint 2005 Kona Stinky Dee for 1600.

If your talking about Kona having crappy four bar linkage for the new models, i agree.

go for the Trek ... I was looking (mainly just in the fully range) for a new bike and i bought a A-line i am happy with and love it because i am not all into the tricks i just like to rip it around burms and hips and stuff not that i dont try to do tricks but I am now kinda wishing i would have gottin somthing smaller like the trek or even a shore so i can control it in the air a litte more (so i can do more tricks)

just my thoughts
