Before I start, John hopefully you see this because of corse I would not start or do anything without your concent regarding the jumps.
Rob and I beliefly spoke about this not too long ago. This is my proposal;
PCC is great, it's a place to learn, and place to push your limits...but, limits change. Though im not busting out huge tricks personally there, im feeling we need bigger jumps. Now, with the space we are working with this is difficult without moving large amounts of forest. So, how about we tear down the two jumps in the middle and build a massive step up dirt jump, right in the middle, slightly past the right hand table. Aswell as this large step up we can easily incorporate two, 270 hips on each side of the step up.
We all know step up's are amazing for learning new tricks, and they are a great way to get some serious height. I would be fully willing to do the bulk of the work, and i will draw something up so everyone gets a better visual.
Lets have everyone post up their opinions? And hey if you got other suggestions post em up aswell.
Also, I am personally going to try and get some more (perminant) garbage cans for the area (as the one we have there is also used for moving dirt). This place has tons of potentional and we all know it.

Hey guys, I’m not in school writing essays anymore so I thought id write one for you:
Its good to hear about ideas for PCC, I’m glad Wayne & I aren’t the only ones dreaming up new ways to make the place better, I gotta say I spend a good portion of my day at work thinking of ways to build new and better jumps. Also, Its not just me that makes decisions on the jumps, I run everything by Wayne before building or doing anything. He hasn’t been around much the past year because of school but trust me he will be back with a vengeance this spring/ summer. I agree with pretty much all of what you have said in terms of needing bigger jumps, tight space & the awesomeness of a good step up, however I gotta say I disagree with tearing down two awesome jumps to make one big awesome jump. The best jumps I have ridden are ones that have many jumps all in rhythm & jumps that have more and more added on with no existing ones torn down, maybe modified to make a line smoother but never torn down/moved completely. I think that is what we should aim for. As a side note if anyone gets a chance to ride the trails in Guelph don’t pass it up, they are among the best in southern Ontario that I have seen & ridden, the video on here does not do them justice. Also, & to be blunt about it, I don’t want PCC turning into a one hit wonder. Not mentioning the ridiculous amount of work it would take to tear down/ move two jumps to make one big one. I love the idea of re tooling/ re working a line that isn’t ridden much to make it good, but I don’t like the idea of totally removing-replacing good jumps. I must say that I do really like the idea of a massive step up tho. As another idea to throw into the pot, how about if we make it a lot easier on ourselves and incorporate the existing hill (roll in) we have into the step up, of course this would require starting on the roll in up in the forest, but could create an awesome jump without moving truckloads of dirt by hand. Generally the best jumps come from the input of many people focused down so everyone is on the same page. Were on the right track and we are definitely going to have to all get together in the spring to figure out exactly what were going to be doing in 2008.
Also as another thing to think about, people have mentioned the thought of putting in a hitching post, I have 3- 8’ long 6”x6” pressure treated posts that would be perfect to make one, the only question is where to make it…?

Man I didn't even think of that area. And I see what your saying about tearing down those jumps. One thing is we would probably have to take down that tree there?

Thats why the best jumps have ideas from lots of people because one person cannot think of every possibility. Your right we might have to take down the tree (hopefully not) but wed have to see. Planning things out from memory never goes perfect because you cant picture exactly how much space things will take up.
I copied the convo to Wayne and he asked me to post this:
I agree with everything you have said. I also have some extra points of my own: a step up through the forest using the hill would probably mean we would have to take out the step up rythym and hip section. not cool, since we've got some work planned in the spring. we would have to make a second path and clear out more forest/vines. thats a bit of work. I personally think the best solution is the easiest. currently there is a small channel between the table top and the first main line jump. This can simply be widened up a little to allow people to ride thru quickly. Then they can carry speed to go directly to the big 'spine' that finishes off the main line as of now. The big spine is already the tallest pile of dirt around as is, and while a dirt spine is cool, making this the landing of our big ass step up would serve the greater good. We can pile up the dirt spine a little into the landing, and dig down a little to make a lippy booter semi-sunk into the ground. The goal is boost, not distance. this way people coming from the former wallride/hip line can still clear it but won't have the speed to go huge. Another takeoff can also be made to complete the main line as the 3rd jump, maybe not a step up depending on how much speed we have going once we've rebuilt the main line a little. Also, the landing for the tabletop could be widened to the left and then people could hit that and point directly at the proposed step up to provide MAXIMUM airtime.

So now my reply to wayne (which I have sent him)
The step up using the spine landing is a good idea, however 2 things, I like the spine & i know other people do too, we would most definetly need to build another spine. Also any takeoff cannot be dug down into the ground in that area as we already have minor drainage issues in that corner of the jumps, digging a takeoff deeper will only make matters worse. Those are the only issues i see with that proposal, but again its alot better to see these things & plan in person.

I guess we all wait till the weather clears up and gets warmer, go out and throw some ideas around while walking the jumps.

Agreed, but keep thinking up ideas now and never exclude anything until it comes time to build because you never know if a seemingly absurd idea will evolve into something great.

Hey guys, if anyone is around or makes it down to PCC in the next little while could you make sure that all the jumps are covered with carpets? Having them covered for the spring rains really helps stop erosion and makes fixing them a ton easier. I wont be able to make it down there for another week or two. Thanks guys.

I have some carpet actually that you guys are free to use over there at PCC if you need it. Been holding onto it for a bit and was just waiting for a place to use it, whether it be at PCC, or my soon to be dirtjumps ... ohh that's right I said it. But that's another story for another day.

i stoped in today on my way to the skate park, the carpets that are there are on jumps, could definatly use a couple more tho, there are to MASSIVE puddles, were talking like a foot or so deep. so ya its gonna be a while before any riding or even digging gets done there.

what you gonna do is water proof it, i have sen this done before at dirt bike tracks what they do is where the big puddles usually are you dig into the puddle and then lay ply wood over them and then put on top this will act like a little water reservoir and drain all the puddles it pretty sick how good it actually works you can ride over them and everything! just an idea though
