Hello everybody,

First off I want to say thanks to all the keen
builders, I've received a bunch of emails from people
excited for the Kelso build day and wondering when it
will be. Its always a super fun way to get together,
throw some dirt around and see what everyone is riding
for 2008.

Build Day Details:
When: April 27th, 10:30 am
Where: Kelso Conservation area, Sunset Lodge
(registration lodge), park in the western lot and walk
over the big bridge.
What: Bring shovels, rakes, pics, axes etc

Please be sure to tell the Kelso front gate you are an
Ontario Cup DH Volunteer, this will get you into the
park for free.

I can also sign any documents for student volunteer
hours.

I'll be providing snacks and water for everyone, those
providing a full days work on the course will receive
a discount on Practice Day registration.

REMINDER!!: 13/14 yr olds can now race all of the DH
races in Ontario, that is 4 races total!! Make sure
to bring out your friends, brothers and sisters to
Ontario Cup DH racing this year!

anybody planning on going out?, i might try to make it if im not working.

I know I'll be working so I think I may book it off. Volunteer hours, building a track with the homies and a discount price... count me in fo show.

im going to try to make an appearance but i have a lot of work to catch up on cause i have zero money right now so if i have to work then so be it but if i have the money for gas i will definately be going i will let everyone know closer to the date so i can act as a bus and bring a few people with me

I attended the build today and it was awesome. There were about 30-40 people and a bobcat which made the work go by very fast. I only worked on the bottom section (from the log drop to end) and it looks like it will ride very fast and somewhat tech depending on your riding ­style­. Apparently there is a whole new top section from the starting gate to the rock drop, I didn't get a chance to check it out though. I'm stoked...ONE MORE WEEK!

sweet, good to hear, i dont know how they would have changed the top? there really isnt else much up the is there? you said you worked on the bottom, is that much different from last year?

Yea, it actually mixes and matches the two Kelso courses of last year. After the log drop into the hill you hit the same off cambers to the jump into the berm, but this year there is a roller at the end to gain more speed for the pedaling section. You then pop out into the ski run, little jump over a ditch, then a double, then a jump into the rock garden features in Kelso Race #2 last year. We didn't really work on a finish, so I don't know where it is.

I didn't take any. Lee from Poisonfrog snapped a few. He said he'd post them on Dropmachine but so far there is nothing.

Is it my understanding that we have a tent for this race? If we do, is there going to be someone at the tent all the time? I wish to bring both my bikes but don't want to leave it abondened all alone on the back of my car. Who knows, maybe you can take a rip or two on one of them if you wish Juan.

i can not guarantee that someone will be a the tent or be responsible for bikes, cause i do stuff and take pictures but several people had two bikes there last year, usually parents or friends stay back.

Alright, well my bikes are like my children so I'm not going to leave one of them unattended, unless I can lock it to something?

ya it will be, like he jon said before, before the rock drop is different and after the offcamber/jump to burm is different? so it will still have the rock drop, log gap and such...

wow, im getting so pumped with all the talk about the new parts to last years couse, i just hope mother nature is good to us, with the weather always changing and the weather people not knowing what they are talking about we will just have to wait it out and see.

Supposed to be nice and rainy on Friday and Saturday... dunno if I should dig out the mud tires or not.

I did not look at the course above the log drop, but from the talk I heard is a new cut through the top to the rock drop. The area between the rock drop and log drop I also have no clue about. So much for sending a spy and gaining secret information
