I dont positivly know it for a fact, but i have heard that it would snap your headtube.
I would tell u right now DONT DO IT 888 on that bike would fell like a chopper and it would be way to hard to pedal.
The angle of your forks would allow your forks to work the way u would want them to.
My advice is go for some totems or 66's some with like a max of 150mm of travel

Your friend is right, if you run too much travel on any bike it has the chance of cracking.

Check the website of the bike manufacturer and see what the maximun travel they recommend for it (if its possible)

Dh forks arent all graded on there travel man, a 888 on that would be outside of the safety and comfort zone for the rider, a set of 66 ( which is more or less the single crown version of the 888, just less travel ) would be a more suitable match for a frame of that travel.... i think totems might be a bit too big as well, but i guess to each his own...

check the angle that the head tube creates when you put the fork on it, or prop the front wheel to that hight, then look at it and imagine pushing up on the wheel from the ground, if that force seems to want to push the head tube up you should be fine but if it looks like it will pushed out from the bottom weld is not good, i hope you undestand what i mean if not i'll try to draw it for you

Re:CAN FORKS GET TOO BIG???? 1 Year, 4 Months ago Karma: 2
Here, try to understand this if you can haha....

When you put a bigger fork on a frame, the bigger it is, the more it rakes the headtube angle, taking away more and more natural downward force on the fork, and putting it on the head tube welds, Right now, with the stock for on your frame, any downwards force is directed to the suspension, when you tilt it out ( with a big fork) that downwars force doesnt get absorbed because your fork only wants to soak up things that are at close to 90 degrees to it, when you have like a 50 degree rake, that downward force is not being relieved by the fork, putting the extra force on the headtube welds, eventually breaking it...

Your on a full suspension, so when you sit on it , it automaticaly sinks the rear end, raking it even more

Go for it if you insist, but you will probably end up with a peached frame and an ovaled steer tube in time..

Why do you want 888's on that bike? it would handle much better with 66's or a totem or domain. Even the fox 36vanR would be a better match for that frame. Big forks are not always better.

anything above 9 inches is in my opinion too much for even the most extreme downhill, it's just not practical

yah i remember when you said you wanted to put 888's on your bike. I dont think thats a great idea. you should probably get a single crown fork. by the way its the kid on your bus

Re:CAN FORKS GET TOO BIG???? 1 Year, 4 Months ago Karma: -1
why is no one understanding this. i dont want another pair of singlecrowns. ive been hearing answers like this from the techs at megastore bike departments(sport check for example) and its rediculous. its not impossible for dual crown forks to fit on my bike. there has to be a make and model of dual crown forks that will fit my bike, preferably with a bit more travel then i have now.(150 mm)
