Stumbled across this at work, its 6 years old. Never seen anything like it, so I took a video
The rear spokes have weights in them that are forced outward when the wheel moves faster and faster, this than pushes what is the spoke protector on most bikes against the chain, pushing it down through the gears. So, the harder you pedal, the faster the wheel goes, the more the weights move out, the higher the gear you go into. Its really cool how it works actually! Took me a few minutes to figure it out though
