New Dual Slalom Event Is A Crowd Pleaser

20070728_crankworx2_0159a.jpgWHISTLER, BC- July 29, 2007- South African Greg Minnaar proved he was fastest in the TELUS Dual Slalom during Kokanee Crankworx 2007.  Minnaar took top spot on a tight, technical course located in the Boneyard in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

In its first year at Kokanee Crankworx, the TELUS Dual Slalom was a crowd pleaser with high energy races, big crashes and a viewer friendly format.  The riders went head to head, pumping through rhythm sections and ripping through tight berms, making for close finishes in the finals.

While Minnaar was first in the Pro Men category, Australian Sam Hill took second place, JD Swanguen from San Diego, CA took third and Andrew Neethling of Draper, UT took fourth.

In the Pro Women category, Tracy Moseley from Malvern, UK finished first, Joanna Petterson from Kauai, HI finished second, Lisa Myklak from Boulder, CO finished third and Leana Gerrard from Bellingham, WA finished fourth.

Other top riders in their respective categories included, Kat Duffles in Amateur Women; Tyler Alison in Boys (13-15); Cory Leclerc in Master Men (30+); Kyle Thomas in Senior Men (19-29) and Curtis Robinson in Junior Men (16-18) category.

Today is the final day of Kokanee Crankworx and features the Canadian Open Downhill from 1:00pm – 5:30pm.  The course takes a new route down Fantastic ski run until Old Olly road, enters Detroit Rock City, to Joyride (new route will bypass the wooden feature), across the flats to Monkey Hands and on to the finish.
