Kokanee Crankworx Highest Rated Freeride Event in Recent IMTTO Rankings |

WHISTLER, BC, January 30, 2008 - In early January 2008, members of the International Mountain Bike Trade Teams, Technical Support and Race Organizers (IMTTO) crowned Kokanee Crankworx the highest rated freeride mountain bike event of the 2007 season and the 9th highest rated event in the world. On the event scene since 2004, Kokanee Crankworx has emerged as the must-see event of the summer event circuit.
“We are very excited about this recent accolade,” says Jeremy Roche, Kokanee Crankworx General Manager. “Kokanee Crankworx is a celebration of all that is mountain biking and we couldn’t be happier to receive this enormous vote of confidence from the IMTTO.”
The IMTTO is an international non-profit organization that contributes to the greater good of the sport of mountain biking and is recognized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
The record breaking 2007 festival brought two new events, the Dual Slalom and WomenzWorx, into the fold. Meanwhile, the athletes at Kokanee Crankworx continue to bring the sport to the next level. And, the 2008 event promises even more excitement.
“The Kokanee Crankworx organizing committee has been hard at work soliciting feedback from athletes and key industry influencers to ensure that the 2008 event remains true to the Kokanee Crankworx spirit,” says Roche. “As a commitment to the racing culture, we have moved the date of the 2008 event to August 9-17 to ensure that World Cup racers are able to make the event. In addition, we are excited to announce that the Kokanee Crankworx schedule will be announced on March 1, 2008.”
Kokanee Crankworx is presented in partnership by Tourism Whistler, Whistler Blackcomb and the Resort Municipality of Whistler. At centre stage of Kokanee Crankworx is the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. With over 200 km and 3,855 feet of lift-serviced gravity-fed, adrenaline-fueled descending trails, the Bike Park is the unequivocal leader of lift-accessed mountain bike parks in the world.
