The
brodie b team is back in the saddle this winter and picking up right where they
left off last summer… the podium.
In his pro debut, Chad Lorrain picked up his first win at
the Southridge Winter series Mountain Cross race in Fontana, Ca, a series that
typically attracts mountain cross legends like Eric Carter and Rich
Housman. Overheard and summed up best
by one So Cal pro; “Some no name showed up and kicked all of our asses.”
We’ll just keep this on the DL, but we inside the b team
anticipate that Chad’s
competitors should probably get used to it.
Last year in Chad’s
rookie season racing mountain cross in the expert division, he was the NORBA
National Champion and won or hit the podium in every race entered. But perhaps more notably, his qualifying
times at every event would have placed him in the top 5 for pros right
alongside the biggest names on the planet.
A resident of North Lake Tahoe, Lorrain himself was a little
taken back by the upset victory as he noted “I haven’t been able to get on my
bike in 5 months because I’ve got 12 feet of snow outside my door right now, so
all I’ve been able to do is train.”
Never to be outdone, 3rd year pro, and 2nd
year b team racer Ian Odom has raced his way to the podium in the Southridge
Series not once, but twice already this season. Odom has a newfound commitment to
training that has been helping him get increasingly faster each time on the race
course. In the last outing Odom was just
over a second behind former multiple World Cup winner Chris Kovarik.
