Day seven of Crankworx brought
exciting head-to-head racing into the heart of the village. Greg Minnaar
took the win over Brian Lopes, while showing great sportsmanship. After
a tight first heat, Lopes went down hard in a berm. Minnaar stopped
and ran back up to make sure Lopes was okay before taking the win, bringing
the crowd to a roar.
The track was a physical test
for the riders, and only the strong advanced.
Greg Minnaar:
“ You guys have no idea how
tiring that is. That first pedaling straight sucks your energy…”
The track was little over a
minute long, but for the win, the riders pedaled out the gate two-hundred
meters, and nearly the whole way down, over a dozen times.
