Cycle Solutions O-cup Downhill Race # 5 | Print |  E-mail

First off, I dont think anyone would disagree that this weekends Cycle Solution O-cup Downhill Race # 5 was FANTASTIC!  This was the first weekend with ABSOLUTELY NO RAIN!
There was record attendance for this weekends race, and everyone seemed to be stoked for some awesome racing and riding.  To top it off, the minime category got the opportunity to race following their absence at Camp Fortune.
 Once the chore of registering was done, and the racers had made it through the long lines,  it was time to head up the hill for some serious downhill thrills.

Riders of all ages grouped at the mountains peak to begin racing. Unfortunatly due to some starting time issues, riders were held back. This however did not stop riders from setting up for their runs, and carefully inspecting specific lines they had chosen before in practise. At around 2:30 racers got the word and were ready to go!
I believe I can speak for everyone when I say that after that 30 second staging was up, it was go time! And time to rip, drift pedal and scream through possibly some of the fastest sections the Ontario Cup has seen this year. Blue Mountain had provided us with tight turns, and fast technical sections that tested the riders nerve and ability to hang on. Suttle improvements and toned down features over last years course made Downhill #5 a run to simply enjoy. The course became more about all out speed rather than super technical rock or off camber sections, keeping the riders on their toes.

Some found that leaving the i-pod at home, using only one finger as opposed to two when braking, and a little Red Bull before the race, made a whole lotta difference when it came to the end result!  {that of course and the fact that, as Juan said, you might just have to go pee pretty bad!}

It was also a great showing of UBiketv riders.  Thanks to all of you who came out to support your team. Thanks to Juan for his neverending effort of incredible pics of all the racers.
 As always, we celebrate those UBiketv racers that make it to the podium.........and Matt, this was your weekend....AWESOME DUDE!!  {ok im a proud mom, what can i say!}
