It was another good weekend of racing as the Blue Mountain hosted the 5th race in the Ontario Cup series. The race saw a great turnout, with Collingwood locals coming out to race on their home turf. Unfortunately, this also produced long lift lines, and long registration lines. However, the weekend was a success.

The course was run on the same trail as last year (O-Shute to R-Shore), despite all the rumours otherwise, so there were no surprises in that sense. The trail was typical of Blue Mountain's unique style of trail. It was very fast and very tight, with the trees claiming quite a few riders. There were tight, fast wooded sections with lots of corners separated by fast open sections with an open sprint to the finish. What the course lacked in individual technical sections such as "the dump" or "couch's corner" at Camp Fortune, it made up for in its constant and relentless tight corners.

For the Minime category, the youngest and newest category, this race was the Provincial Championships. 3rd spot was taken by Matthew Wilcox of Collingwood with a time of 2:43.685. 2nd place went to Max Wharin with a time of 2:38.851, and Graeme Duff took the win with a time of 2:32.381.

In the Cadet category, Patrick McCarter finished 3rd with a time of 2:30.063, and 2nd place was taken by Mack Thompson (Arrow Racing) with 2:28.406. 1st place went to Kyle Sangers (J & J Cycle), who posted a time of 2:21.068 which gave him a lead of over 7 seconds over second place, and would have put him on the podium in the Pro category.

The Junior Expert saw what could be called an upset, as two Collingwood locals who were favourite to finish 1st and 2nd were beaten by Rob Fraser (Poisonfrog.ca) who posted a time of 2:16.207, only a tenth of a second off of the fastest time of the day in the Pro category. Taylor Rowlands (Commencal) took 2nd with a time of 2:18.272, and Andrew Gotuaco (Sweet Pete's) finished 3rd with 2:19.565.

In the All Female category, National Champion Sheila Morris (Cycle Solutions/Angry Johnny's Racing) took the win by a convincing margin with a time of 2:38.372. Kristen Courtney (Poisonfrog.ca) took 2nd, posting a time of 2:49.813, and following closely behind with a time of 2:51.839 was Stephanie Adams (Kamikaze Racing) in 3rd.

In the Pro Men category, Terry Leimonis' time of 2:22.508 put him 5th, just a tenth of a second behind Tom Kakamousias' 4th place time of 2:22.408. Ben Reasbeck (Kamikaze Racing) took third with a time of 2:21.920 despite racing with a recently broken wrist. 2nd went to Zachary Tatem (Trek Bicycle Store Team) who posted a time of 2:19.915 and the win went to Drew Pautler (Primary-Devinci) with a time of 2:16.104.
